Ambassador to Austria dies
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed his death in a media statement issued late Wednesday evening.
“Ambassador Raphael Nakare Dinyando passed away at the State Hospital in Vienna Austria on 4 September 2013. The Ministry [of Foreign Affairs] would like to express its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Ambassador Dinyando and wish them strength and solace during this difficult time,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ acting Permanent Secretary, Wilbard Hellao said in the statement.
He said the ministry has meanwhile begun the process of facilitating the repatriation of Dinyando’s remains to Namibia, and announcements regarding his funeral arrangements will be made in due course.
Dinyando was the founding Mayor of Rundu Town in 1992, and he was appointed Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in 2005, before his deployment to Austria as Namibia’s Ambassador to that country in 2010.
Dinyando was born at Divundu in the Kavango East Region on 02 August 1960. He is survived by his wife and four children.
