Oil production reaches 1.7 million barrels per day

The oil production in Angola has reached 1.7 million barrels per day, 10 times more if compared to the post independence period with the year 1975. Oil Minister Botelho de Vasconcelos said that on contrast, in 1975 the country used to produce 173.000 barrels per day. According to him, currently the great challenges in oil exploration and production fields are based off-shore, deep waters, as well as in pre-salt, by highlighting great projects such as the Paz Flor, Grande Plutónio and Angola LNG. The Minister reminded that oil's history in country has more than a century, which means that it started in 1910. The first commercial production started on-shore of Congo basin in 1955 in Benfica field. (Angola Press Agengy)
