Relief assistance to Japan offered

Botswana’s President Ian Khama has said his country will offer relief assistance to Japan. He said his administration had decided to provide aid to Japan to enable it to cope with the disaster brought by the recent monster earthquake. He did not state the nature and extent of the assistance the country would give to Japan. "Japan has been assisting Botswana in development terms in the past and we have to extend our helping hand to them in these times of need," President Khama said. He said the tragedies that befell the world's third largest economy and one of the main markets for Botswana's diamonds, could have a negative impact on the local economy. (Africa Review)
