More ministers will resign, warns Sata

Opposition Patriotic Front president Michael Sata has warned President Rupiah Banda to brace himself for more resignations from his ministers ahead of the 2011 general elections. Mr. Sata told local media that his party was courting more ministers from the ruling party who he said would be defecting before the next elections. He said President Banda must not be surprised when more ministers, including those close to him, quit his party because they had smelled imminent change of government coming next year.

Mr. Sata who came close to winning the 2008 presidential by-election said President Banda had failed the Zambian people and that his ministers did not want to go down with him when the ruling party is kicked out of power next year. Last week, Sports deputy minister Maynard Misapa resigned as Member of Parliament for Mpolokoso constituency to join PF. President Banda however said he fired the deputy minister because he was selling strategic government information to the opposition. (LusakaTimes)
