Japan Funds Building of 20 Schools

The Japanese Government will grant USD eight million for the construction of 20 schools in Angola, being 10 in Benguela and the remaining in Luanda province, Angop learnt on Tuesday from the officer for economic cooperation of the Asian nation's embassy to the African country, Daisuke Hattory.
The diplomat announced this fact in Benguela, where he witnessed the launching of the cornerstone for the building of schools, carried out in Damba Maria village, Lobito, by the local deputy governor for social sphere, João Evangelista Basílio.
Apart from Lobito, other schools will be built in the districts of Chongoroi, Caimbambo, Ganda and Cubal and they will host 2,600 new students.
According to Daisuke Hattory, the Japanese Government has decided to finance the building of school establishments for reckoning that education is the basis for the development of any country. (IRIN)
