More copper discovered in Maun

Discovery Metals Limited has announced a further 46 percent increase in the copper resource at the company's wholly-owned Maun project in the NorthWest District, bringing the total resource in the project to 46.1 metric tonnes. In an announcement to the Australian Stock Exchange where it is primarily listed, the company said the latest increase follows the definition of an inferred mineral resource of 14.5 metric tonnes at the Plutus Prospect within the project. This means that during 2007, total inferred mineral resources for the Maun Project have now been increased by 130 percent.
Attracted by the high mineral endowment of Botswana and high commodity prices, Discovery is one of many foreign companies investing in the country. Although the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been clearly skewed in favour of diamonds, prospecting for other minerals - among them uranium, nickel and copper - is taking place at an unprecedented rate, particularly in central and northern Botswana.
