Government to implement cultural development plan
The Angolan Government will implement during the 2008/2013 period a solid development plan with view to make functional the strategies in the cultural domain. This was announced in Havana, Cuba, by the Angolan Culture minister, Boaventura Cardoso, during his speech at the V International Congress of Culture and Development, whilst speaking about the topic Angola-Cultural Heritage and Identity.
National unity, the preservation of cultural diversity and equality in treating those who express the cultural and linguistic diversity, were mentioned by the Angolan official as the three leading and structuring principles of the future legislation on the national culture. According to him, this programme will take into account the government's goals foreseeing the consolidation of democracy, maintenance of social peace and reduction of poverty. "We understand, for this reason, that in the field of defence to cultural diversity and promotion of national culture, this should occupy a leading role as a means of human potential development, being a factor for the creation of wealth and jobs", he noted.
