Malaria kills forty children daily

About forty children below five years of age die daily in Angola due to malaria, according to data released by the national programme of this disease control. From the domestic economy point of view, each citizen living in Angola suffers from three to five episodes of malaria annually. A patient suffering of simple malaria spends US $ 10 to 30, for each episode. Each year the total cost for assistance of this illness is estimated at USD 30 to 150 per person. In average, each worker or student stays at home from 25 to 28 days resting per year, due to malaria. According to the Ministry of Health (MINSA) the precarious sanitation conditions facilitate the increase of mosquitoes multiplication focus. (Angola Press Agency, Luanda)
