Unita to replace its members in the government
UNITA will replace its militants who are members of the Government of Unity and National Reconciliation (GURN) of Angola, a move which also includes the party leadership, its President Isaias Samakuva has announced. UNITA has four Ministers and seven Vice-Ministers in the Angolan government. In his speech, the UNITA leader said that the organisation "needs to give qualitative steps, what can only be possible with competent staff". Appealing to UNITA members represented in the GURN, Samakuva said "not to behave as adorning figures, but carry out their functions in accordance to what law confers them". With regard to elections, he reaffirmed that they should happen in the year 2005. (Angola Press Agency, Luanda)
